TREE SERVICE

Everyone knows that tree roots act as

anchors. However, did you know that

roots also play an important role in

providing necessary nutrients, minerals,

water and oxygen to the tree?

Tree survival in suburban landscape

depends upon strong, productive root

systems. Root stress has been called the

single greatest threat to tree health. The

two main causes of root stress are

compacted soil and drought.

Fertilization In urban landscapes where
natural compost is replaced by turf,
additional minerals must be injected into
the soil to replace this lack of normal
replenishment. In general, when you can
visibly see a problem with a tree,
treatments might be too late to save the
tree. Fertilizing on a yearly basis is highly
recommended to insure a proper supply of
minerals to the root system. Healthy trees
are better able to fight off most insect and
diseases until that particular stress is
controlled. Many arborists will contend
that fertilizer, properly applied, is the
single best treatment that we can provide
to a tree.
